Costco offers three prescription hearing brands - Jabra, Philips and Rexton.
In this review we’ll go in-depth with Rexton hearing aids and talk through their latest Rexton Reach platform.
The new release includes exciting updates to their sound-processing and underlying technology that will unlock future Bluetooth experiences.
Background and Recent Updates
WS Audiology manufactures Rexton hearing aids, which also makes sister brand Signia. Rexton hearing aids are available at Costco in a variety of form-factors:
- The most popular Reach RIC R-Li T (reach platform)
- Higher powered, and durable BiCore Rugged BTE (Bicore platform)
- High-powered M-Core HP BTE (MCore Platform)
- An Invisible-Style M-Core IX CIC (MCore Platform)
This diverse product offering means that there is an option for customers with a wide range of hearing loss and preferences.
At this time Rexton’s newest chipset (Rexton Reach) is only available in their flagship receiver-in-canal (RIC) product. The good news for Costco shoppers is that the RIC product is the most popular and feature rich among Rexton options making it an easy selection for most folks.
Rexton’s new devices are among our favorites at Costco which offer some of the best technology available at an impressive price. The new Rexton Reach offers improved multi-talker technology, an upgrade to Bluetooth connectivity and the longest battery life among Costco’s range.
Of note, If you have a complex hearing situation like asymmetrical hearing loss, past surgeries, or severe hearing loss, you’ll likely have more success with a more specialized local clinic.
Rexton Vs. Costco Alternatives
We like Rexton hearing aids for their long-lasting battery (34+ hours on a single charge) and full range of designs. We also love the modern travel charging-case that comes with Rexton Reach devices.
Rexton’s underlying noise-management technology has several strengths: a processing chip that separates speech and background sounds as well as multiple beam-forming capability to follow multiple talkers in noise with the new Rexton Reach. In our review of Rexton Reach we noted a smooth, relaxed sound quality compared to Jabra’s more assertive and bright style.

How to Choose a Style

Rexton offers a range of hearing aid brands and styles. Around 85% of customers select a hearing aid that sits behind their ear (often called receiver-in-canal or RIC). RIC hearing aids have the most advanced technology and are generally more comfortable.
Rexton also offers an in-the-ear model which can be nearly invisible in most ears (M-Core IX CIC). Some users enjoy for ease of handling and personal preference.

Looking for more hearing aids at Costco? Among Costco's hearing aid options, Rexton has many attractive features. Read on to learn about the latest Rexton models, device technology and features, pros and cons, prices, and how the products compare to other options at Costco.
Background
Rexton hearing aids are manufactured by WS Audiology (WSA). Rexton has been around since 1955 and is currently a part of the portfolio of brands in WSA, in addition to other brands such as Widex and Signia. Some key features of Rexton products that stand out include their multi-track technology that helps in background noise and several convenient charger options for their rechargeable hearing devices.
Rexton Hearing Aid Models and Hardware
Rexton offers a range of hearing aid styles at Costco including an in-ear and receiver-in-canal option. At the time of this review, the newest Rexton Reach platform is only available through Rexton’s flagship receiver-in-canal device.
These RIC hearing aids have a traditional profile with a button for volume control and an optional telecoil feature.
Rexton’s approach to charging and battery life stands out at Costco (and in the industry). This device comes with a variety of charging options, as you'll virtually never run out of battery life with Rexton Reach getting up to 39 hours without streaming. Even with five hours of streaming, the devices can each still get 34 hours of power in a single charge. Rexton’s portable charge case carries an additional three charges before you need to plug it into the wall.

One unsung hero of the Rexton line is the brand’s dome tips. These little pieces sit inside the ear to funnel sound towards your ear-drum and create a comfortable resting place. We find Rexton’s sleeves to be the most comfortable across Costco’s line.

Rexton Reach Sound-Processing Technology
Let’s talk about technology inside Rexton’s newest product. Rexton Reach comes with a newly updated approach to sound quality that gives users a meaningful boost in clarity in tough listening environments.
The Rexton Reach comes with directional microphones, updated sound processing algorithms, feedback cancellation systems, and noise reduction capabilities.
The latest Rexton Reach model features multiple beam-forming technology that can help give you an extra boost when listening to multiple talkers in background noise. This new multi-talker technology is one of the most significant upgrades between Rexton Reach and older versions of the product.
Rexton’s white paper shows both objective improvement in signal-to-noise ratio (SNR), which demonstrates the effectiveness of the technology in background noise, and subjective perception from Rexton users.
Rexton Reach Accessories
Rexton products come with two optional accessories:
- Smart Mic ($199)- a remote microphone for increased audibility of your conversation partner in noisy environments.
- Smart Transmitter 2.4 ($159) - a TV streamer that pairs with your hearing aids to deliver your TV audio directly into your hearing aids.
Bluetooth Streaming
Rexton hearing aids are equipped with Bluetooth capabilities, enabling connection to iPhones through MFi (Made for iPhone) technology with handsfree calling. For Android users, Rexton hearing aids will connect through ASHA (Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids) for Android devices with handsfree calling available for compatible Android models.
Handsfree calling is a feature that many hearing aid wearers appreciate, as phone calls are an important part of daily communication for most of us. And if you like to listen to music or podcasts, you’ll appreciate Rexton’s streaming sound quality which we find clear and resonate.
Additionally, Rexton hearing aids are future-ready for LE Audio, with a future firmware update once Bluetooth LE becomes widely adopted. You will not need to purchase a new pair of hearing aids to access Bluetooth LE features.
Rexton Smartphone App
The Rexton Hearing Aid app is designed to enhance your auditory experience through a suite of innovative features.
- General Features include easy-to-use volume control and mute options that allow you to tailor your hearing aids to your specific needs.
- The app's Treble/Bass adjustment lets you fine-tune the sound quality, ensuring that you get the sharpness you need for speech clarity or increase the bass.
- With Directional Hearing, you can focus on sounds coming from a particular direction, making conversations in noisy environments more manageable. This is a feature that patients really enjoy, as they can focus in on the person in front of them while reducing maximum background noise.
- Finally, Rexton Assist offers guidance and troubleshooting support directly through the app, offering helpful suggestions to help improve the sound based on a series of simple questions to guide sound adjustment changes. Think of it like your audiologist on the go.
Rexton Vs. Other Options At Costco
Each of the models at Costco comes with credible technology and a strong value proposition. So where does Rexton Reach stand out?
- Comfortable, clear sound: Rexton’s hearing aids do a great job in background noise and generally feel more relaxed or smooth than Jabra’s more assertive style. Each wearer has their own tastes, but we find Rexton Reach among the most comfortable soundscapes we’ve heard.
- Battery and charging: Rexton is a clear leader when it comes to battery charging. We love the portable case and the 34+ hours of charge each day.
- New innovations: While each brand at Costco has new R&D efforts, we appreciate Rexton’s focus on multiple talkers. Focusing on multiple voices can be a significant challenge for on-the-go wearers who spend time in dynamic settings like restaurants and events.
Final Thoughts
All in all, there are many great reasons you might choose Rexton hearing aids through Costco. The brand offers quality products at an affordable price along with helpful features such as Bluetooth streaming capability, directional microphones, sound processing algorithms to help with background noise.
